Policies: FAQ

General Policies

Students will be placed with respect to potential and proficiency by the dance staff.  Please know that all students progress at different rates of speed.  Therefore, students may not always be placed with the same classmates.  Teachers are constantly watching the advancement of each dancer and will notify you of any changes needed.  Class changes made by the family must be made by October 15th or a fee of $15.00 is assessed.

All students are required to arrive on time for their lessons and, while on premises, conduct themselves in an orderly fashion.

Attendance is essential to a student’s progress.  Please notify the studio office at 717-464-9330 when a child will not be attending class for any reason.  Make-up classes are offered, but arrangements must be made with the office first.  We prefer make-ups to be made within 2 weeks of the missed class.  Please try to keep these to a minimum as it can be difficult for both the teachers and the students.

Visitors are not permitted in class. In January, we host a “Parent Observation Week” for guests to come in and view classes.

Students should put their names on dance equipment.  Long hair should be pulled back off face.  No jewelry should be worn to class.  No candy, drink or gum is allowed inside classroom. Dancers should not bring toys or stuffed animals to class.  Classroom rules are posted in each studio.  There is no running, yelling or touching other dancers.  Students should not talk when the teacher is talking.  We expect the same classroom behavior that your child’s school demands. Parents will be contacted if classroom rules are not followed.

COVID PRocedures

We will continue to comply with all safety mandates. Updated procedures will be put in place in accordance with the CDC, PA Department of Health, and our local school districts.

Dress Code

In order to maintain a discipline class environment, we ask that all dancers follow the studio dress code.  Ballet students, including Creative Movement, should wear leotards of any color, tights and pink leather ballet slippers.  Black ballet shoes for boys.  A ballet skirt is acceptable.  Long hair should be pulled back off face.  No jewelry should be worn to class.

All Jazz, Tap, and Lyrical students should wear tights and leotards of any color as well as the appropriate footwear.  Students may also wear jazz pants or shorts over their leotards.  Please do not wear oversized t-shirts or baggy street clothing to class.  Jeans are never allowed. Hip-Hop students may wear shorts & a t-shirt with jazz shoes or hip-hop sneakers to class.  Feel free to call us with questions at 717-464-9330!

Holidays and Closings

The studio closes for the following holidays:

  • Halloween (trick-or-treat night only!)

  • Thanksgiving

  • Christmas

  • New Years

  • Memorial Day

  • July 4th

  • Labor Day

Closings are always listed in the newsletters and posted throughout the lobby.  For bad weather closings we will leave a message on the studio voicemail and Facebook page at least 1 hour prior to the start of classes.  If you hear no such message, you should assume we are open with normal hours.  Please do not call and request a call back.  We have entirely too many students to return that many calls.  We do try to remain open whenever possible and leave the decision to drive up to you!
